Copies of the Amazing Fantasy 15, featuring the first appearance of Spider-Man are very rare to come by however, a local comic book store owner has one up for grabs right now.
New Dimension Comics in Ellwood City holds the 1962 Spider-Man comic book. Here's how owner, Todd McDevitt, came across the rare find.
“This woman for example, she didn’t know what to do this these comics, her husband had been gone for a few years . . . she connects with me and she finally has a way to cash them in,” said McDevitt.
What makes the find so rare is most remaining rare comics like Spider-Man and the first appearances of Superman and Batman are already in collector’s hands.
Not many rare comics are left in people’s attics.
McDevitt said the Amazing Fantasy 15 comic book that his store hold is roughly in a very good condition per industry. It’s going for $35,000.
That’s a steal, considering a copy of Amazing Fantasy for $3.6 million in September 2021.
