Big Lots! Has announced all of its remaining locations in the Pittsburgh area and across the country will close.
In a release Thursday, Big Lots, Inc. said they are preparing a going out of business sale “at all remaining Bit Lots store locations in the coming days to protect the value of its estate.”
Previously, the company planned to sell its assets through an agreement with Nexus Capital Management, but now, the company does not expect that deal to move forward.
Five Big Lots! locations in the Pittsburgh area have closed or have been announced to close already, including The Big Lots on Lincoln Highway in North Versailles, the Monroeville location on William Penn Highway, the store on Green Garden Road in Aliquippa, Big Lots in Moon on Gracy Center Way and Greene Plaza in Waynesburg.
The other stores in the Pittsburgh area include, Belle Vernon, Bridgeville, Butler, Greensburg, Hermitage, Indiana, Latrobe, Natrona Heights, New Castle, Penn Hills, Rochester, Washington, Uniontown and West Mifflin.
"We all have worked extremely hard and have taken every step to complete a going concern sale. While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB process," said Bruce Thorn, Big Lots' President and Chief Executive Officer.
"The Company is continuing to serve customers in-store and online, and will provide updates as available," the release adds.
