Report shows some Pittsburgh water fountains still turned off

The controller's office has released a new report on the status of water fountains in the City of Pittsburgh.

Inspectors went to 28 fountains in June and found 43 percent were turned off, according to Rachel Heisler’s update.

When the issue of problems with the city's water fountains came up last year, the mayor's office reassured residents that a team of three plumbers could complete needed repairs.

This year's inspection included all 20 fountains that were checked out last year plus eight new fountains and only half of them were operational.
