A restaurant in Southwestern PA was recently ruled “out of compliance” after an inspection by state officials.
The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Bureau says House of Chen on Brandt Drive in Cranberry Township had four risk factors and one considered a repeat risk factor.
Violations include mouse dropping found in a dry storage area, “indicating the presence of a live animal on the premise of the food facility.”
Other issues include dirty food contact surfaces, like a knife rack and blade guard of the slicer covered with food residue.
Refrigerated ready-to-eat foods are not being date marked. That is a repeat violation.
Several non-food contact surfaces are not being cleaned frequently enough and “general cleaning” is needed under equipment in the back storage room area of the restaurant.
