Marty Griffin brought up a growing problem in the city of Pittsburgh on Monday's show on News Radio KDKA.

There are many homeless people in the city and it's gotten to the point where it's getting dangerous.

Marty brought up an incident over the weekend where a family was at McDonald's and a homeless man allegedly attacked a 12-year-old boy with a box cutter. Luckily, the boy is okay. Still, Marty worries this is bigger than a one-time incident.

Tony Moreno, a retired Pittsburgh cop, joined the show to weigh in on this. He completely agrees with Marty, and admits downtown Pittsburgh isn't the safest place to be right now. Not only that, he warns that police can't do much in these situations.

"I could not recommend that anybody spend anytime downtown," Moreno said. "When you have been the victim of a crime, there is nothing to say that Pittsburgh Police will do anything about it because the policy enacted by the mayor says they are not to address minor crimes and there is no definition."

Moreno is a candidate for Mayor of Pittsburgh.
