Pittsburgh reverend accused of stealing baseball cards resigns

A Reverend at a Downtown church who is accused of theft at Walmart has resigned.

Reverend Aidan Smith tendered his resignation as Dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

His resignation was accepted on Saturday by Rev. Ketlen Solak, the Episcopal bishop of Pittsburgh.

In a letter to the community, Rev. Solak said Reverend Smith had been placed on administrative leave in late January as the church looked into “whether Aidan improperly sold artifacts belonging to the cathedral through online platforms.”

Revend Smith was arrested on February 27 on unrelated charges of stealing $1,000 worth of baseball cards from an Ambridge Walmart over a five-day period.
