The residents in the Riverview School District are facing a potential rise in their property taxes.
The exact number is a 2% increase in real estate taxes for Verona and Oakmont property owners. The increase is part of the district's $25.9 million general fund budget for the 2023-24 school year.
According to a district spokesperson, it would increase taxes on a home worth 200-thousand dollars by about 95 dollars a year.
The spokesperson cited the need to balance the budget as one of the main reasons for the increase, along with rising costs and a potential for less state and federal funding.
The board approved the budget on May 15. They will hold a public hearing about the budget June 5 at 7 p.m. at Tenth Street Elementary School in Oakmont, PA.
