One of the victims of Wednesday’s fatal five-vehicle accident on Rt. 65 that killed two people is being remembered for the many lives she touched.
A memorial event is planned for May 15 for Danielle Jackman at Smitty’s Place, bar and restaurant, on Walnut Street in McKeesport.
The 58-year-old Jackman was the Tuesday and Sunday cook at Smitty’s.
Jackman also worked as a DUI and AOD counselor.
A celebration of life and special balloon release memorial will take place at 7 p.m.
“Dani was more than just a coworker and friend — she was family,” Smitty’s tells KDKA Radio. “Her love for cooking, her unforgettable personality, and her passion for the Pittsburgh Pirates left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.”
Friends, family, coworkers, customers and the community are all welcome to “honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate the incredible life she lived.
“Since the day we opened just five months ago, Dani became a huge part of the heart and soul of Smitty’s Place. She took pride in every dish that came out of the kitchen and always loved seeing people enjoy her creations. Dani was never afraid to push the envelope, constantly coming up with new ideas and unique specials — many of which have since become permanent additions to our menu.
Also, Smitty’s will be collecting donations at the bar with all proceeds going to Danielle’s family.
