The world’s largest rubber duck is coming back to Pittsburgh, just in time for the NFL Draft.
Local company, Wolfe LLC, is entirely funding the duck’s visit to Pittsburgh ahead of the Draft.
The six-stories tall rubber duck will be placed at Wolfe’s corporate headquarters at 10 Foster Place on Anderson Drive in Green Tree April 17 – April 22.
The giant duck will be visible from the Parkway West as well.
Wolfe founder and CEO Jason Wolfe says he was one of the millions of people that saw the original duck when it came to Pittsburgh in 2013.
“I moved to Pittsburgh in 1994 with nothing,” said Jason Wolfe, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wolfe, LLC. “I’d gone to the Milton Hershey School — a residential school for disadvantaged kids. After two spinal surgeries, I was living out of my car. So, I went to the Carnegie Library and taught myself how to code. That turned into a company. That company turned into a few companies. One of them sold for over $120 million. Pittsburgh gave me a second chance, and this is my way of saying thank you.”
The duck is 61 feet tall, 64 feet wide and 74 feet long, powered by four “high-intensity” blowers and secured by eight, 1,800-pound concrete blocks.
The duck that visited the river in Pittsburgh was 40 feet tall. This one, built for land, is able to be larger.
