A local hibachi restaurant in the Pittsburgh area is taking responsibility and promising to do better after a Consumer Alert was issued earlier this month.
Saga Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar in Monroeville Mall was under alert from September 17-25 after health violations were found, including a cockroach infestation.
A follow-up inspection showed Saga had resolved the pest issue and was awarded the green “Inspected & Permitted” by the Allegheny County Health Department.
In a recent statement, posted on Facebook, Saga says, We owe you a sincere apology — this falls far short of the standards we set for ourselves.”
Through an investigation, Saga says the roaches had migrated from a different part of the mall, including the food court that sits below them.
Saga released its plan moving forward:
– Full deep-clean and professional extermination of the entire restaurant, completed
– Passed the health department's re-inspection on September 24 (see photo)
– Professional pest control treatments every two weeks, on a fixed schedule
– Thorough cleaning and sanitation every single day
