What’s happening in New York City is a warning for Pittsburgh.
It is estimated over 160,000 undocumented migrants have arrived in that sanctuary city in the past 18 months.
The situation is so bad, a high school was closed so 2,000 migrants could be evacuated from tents during severe weather.
It appears New York has run out of money for hotel rooms. The high school students are learning remotely, outraging residents.
Fayette County Representative Ryan Warner wants to spare Pittsburgh a similar fate.
Warner has introduced legislation to prevent municipalities and counties from designating themselves as sanctuary cities, places where the policy is to not enforce immigration laws.
Warner’s bill would also require law enforcement officers to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement about the illegal migrants they arrest.
Warner points out 300,000 people without documents were processed in the U.S. in December alone.
The time to pass Warner’s measure has arrived, before the immigration crisis reaches Pittsburgh.
