Allegheny county has a new leader for the first time in 12 years.
Innamorato addressed the crowd at the Byham Theatre Tuesday afternoon with the same message she's spread since campaigning, her goal is to create a government that serves all people.
"For people of different neighborhoods, background and means, we might as well be living in different states," said Innamorato. "And in too many cases those differences stem from shortcomings in our approach to economics to social services and to justice."
Speakers at the Byham Theatre included Darrin Kelly with the Allegheny-Fayette central Labor Council and Pittsburgh mayor Ed Gainey.
Gainey said his support for Innamorato goes back to their days in the state legislature.
"And I watched how hard she fought for working-class families . . . how hard she fought to make this that this state was getting the right resources that they need, she never waivered and she never backed out," said Gainey.
Innamorato highlighted a number of initiatives she plans to push - including modern infrastructure and transportation, affordable housing, raising wages and clean energy.
Innamorato is only the fourth Allegheny county executive and the first woman to ever hold the role.
Innamorato will hold her first press conference on Wednesday.
She'll discuss an increase in hourly wages for some Allegheny County workers as well as other policies.
