Shaler Police are getting the word out about people scamming customers in the Giant Eagle parking lot earlier this week.
In a social media post, Shaler Township Police said the scammers told people they needed money for a funeral, but wouldn't take cash.
Victims who donated with a credit or debit card later discovered the scammers used them to make purchases or transfer money from accounts.
Investigators say an organized ring of four men and one woman are running the scam.
If you have been victimized by the scammers, you are asked to call Shaler Police at 412-492-2222.
Police add other “fraudulent activities are active” around the area and to not provide anyone soliciting money with any person or financial information.
