Family hopes for answered after river search for missing Monongahela man suspended

Divers have probed a stretch of the Mon River looking for a Washington County man missing for a week. For now, the search has been suspended:

Despite all of the state-of-the-art equipment, there wasn't a trace of 26-year-old Shelby Rhodes.

His sister Jessi has not given up hope and she tells KDKA Radio that despite what some people have said, his friends that were with him at the party where he was last seen say he was not drunk or depressed and he was well liked.

“He gets along with everybody, he has nobody that he has any grievances with,” said Jessi. “He certainly knows a lot of people, especially in the Monongahela area, everybody loves Shelby.”

Shelby Rhodes is 5-3, 125 pounds with red hair and beard. Anyone with any information should call Monongahela Police at 724-258-5511 or dial 911.

He as last seen at around 5 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 near the river. His phone was located a later on a river bank on the Monongahela.

Jessi says she doesn’t know when the search will continue.
