Mason Martin's family says he had a very good week.
The Karns City quarterback has been hospitalized since he collapsed during a game on September 1.
In a social media post, Mason's family says he remains unconscious, but is moving and reacting to touch and sounds.
They also say he's been on a ventilator for just four hours in recent days.
Doctors can also now focus on specific parts of the brain to focus on during rehab.
"Last week still had a few tense moments, but nothing like the prior weeks. Now we are shedding tears of joy and happiness rather than pain and heartache," the family said in the statement.
Karns City won their game on Friday night against Moniteau 48-15. A prayer vigil for Martin was also held.
A GoFundMe is still active to help the Marin family.
