Several bovines have a Volunteer Fire Company in Butler County to thank after a rescue mission on Monday.
The Unionville Volunteer Fire Company responded on Monday evening to Muddy Creek Drive in Center Township for reports of cows stuck in a frozen pond.
The water the cows were in was shallow but there was thick mud trapping the animals.
The Butler Eagle reports after being unable to lure the cows out of the ice, first responders used machinery that is “similar to a four-wheel-drive forklift” to bring the cows to safety.
In total, seven cows needed to be rescued.
