Pittsburgh Regional Transit has announced a partnership with Sheetz that will provide free rides for everyone on the “T” and Monongahela Incline during the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
Rides will be available April 23 – April 25 across the Blue, Red and Silver lines along with the Mon incline.
With PRT's CEO Katherine Kelleman continuing to urge people not to drive during Draft Week, Sheetz says it is proud to support the City by underwriting the costs.
Kelleman says the convenience store chain made the first move.
“And Sheetz reached out and said you know what we think we have an idea that can make this work out better and really was looking for the way to have the best possible impact in the community,” said Kelleman.
Kelleman says covering the fares ended up being the best way Sheetz could help out.
“Pittsburgh is about to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors, and we know getting around is top of mind for everyone,” said Ryan Sheetz, EVP of Marketing and Supply Chain for Sheetz. “We’ve been part of this community for more than 40 years, and we’re excited to support Pittsburgh!
The underwriting caps at $200,000.
And while the Sheetz campaign covers the entire T system and the Mon Incline, if another entity offers to do the same with buses, she'll listen.
Sheetz will also offer riders a chance to win gift cards with special social media sharing opportunities....and they'll also temporarily renaming some 'T' stops with quirky names like North Side of Fryz....Shnackaton Square and Wash-it-Dahn Junction
