Dogs are amazing creatures. Police dogs take it to another level.

A 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, named Yoda, with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency was critical in the capture of escaped convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante on Wednesday.

In Pittsburgh, an elderly woman with dementia has a K9 officer to thank after she went missing.

On Wednesday night, Pittsburgh Police contacted the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, requesting assistance finding a missing woman.

Deputy Jeff Belback and his partner Ranger arrived to the missing woman’s home on Alexis Street in Greenfield after 9 p.m.

After Ranger got the woman’s scent, he tracked the scent to an area of thick brush at the end of Alexis Street.

While making their way through the brush, Belback started calling for the woman and heard a faint response.

She was rescued about 40 yards away on a hillside near Greenfield Avenue.

The woman was on the hillside for about five hours.

“Ranger’s tracking skills were crucial to making sure that this search had a happy ending! Great Job!” Sheriff Kevin Kraus’ message said on Facebook.
