Giant Eagle shoppers are being advised to stock up for those big Thanksgiving meals before the holiday.

The grocery chain announced Wednesday that all of their stores will be closed on Thanksgiving.

The company says the one-day closure will allow their team members time to rest, recharge and enjoy the holiday with their families.

The decision applies to all Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo locations.

Spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski says shoppers and drivers are being advised to plan ahead:

"Maybe do a dry run with your ingredients two days before Thanksgiving instead of the night before and make sure you're filling your fuel if you are planning on being on the road and traveling for the holiday," Jablonowski told the NewsRadio KDKA Morning Show.

In a released, Giant Eagle says that "despite persistent reports about global supply issues and empty store shelves", their stores have turkeys, canned pumpkin and other Thanksgiving-related items in stock.
