'Shore Thing' entertainment barge on Allegheny River opening this week

Pittsburgh has a new floating barge river attraction that opens Tuesday.

Shore Thing is Riverlife’s newest riverfront destination: a 4,800 square foot floating barge in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Sister Bridges that invites you to relax, recharge, and rediscover the city from the river itself.

Shore Thing is unique, with a mural you can see from up above.

While you're on deck, you can lounge on a net above the river.

Visitors can expect free yoga, fitness, live music, and art workshops.

“It’s part hang out spot, it’s got a community stage, it’s got a concession area and its fully powered by the sun,” Emily Balawejde, The Director of Communications for River Life tells The Big K Morning show.

The floating barge can be moved to different locations, stored in the winter with plans to bring it back in the spring.

Shore Thing was set to officially open Tuesday at noon, but due to heavy rains, will now open at 5 p.m.
