Singer Richard Marx reveals why he entered music scene, new album on the way

Pittsburgh (Newsradio KDKA) - Singer Richard Marx will release his latest album and book in early July.

The book "Stories To Tell: A Memoir," focuses on his life, and the stars who he met and worked with throughout his career. The album, "Stories To Tell: Greatest Hits And More," features remastered versions of his biggest hits plus never before released demos, live tracks and fresh interpretations of songs he penned for other artists including NSYNC’s “This I Promise You,” Josh Groban’s “To Where You Are” and Keith Urban’s “Better Life.”

The artist joined the KDKA Radio Morning Show Wednesday to preview the releases, and reveal why he entered the music industry.

"If I'm really going to be honest with you, the inspiration came from the same place for a lot of people - I was trying to get laid," Marx said. "I was in high school, I was shy and I had crushes on girls. I didn't have game, but I could sing."

Marx has worked with Kenny Rogers, Luther Vandross, Barbra Streisand and many stars.
