The University of Pittsburgh and women's basketball coach Tory Verdi are being sued by six former players.
Federal lawsuits were filed Friday in Pittsburgh, alleging Title IX violations and a failure to properly address player complaints.
The suits claim that players endured emotional abuse, faced retaliation for speaking out, and lost athletic scholarships, and that the university failed to intervene despite being aware of concerns.
They also accuse the coaching staff of fostering racial division, allegedly pitting white players against Black players.
The individual lawsuits seek monetary damages and include Title IX claims.
A Pitt spokesperson tells KDKA Radio the lawsuits and allegations “are without merit and will be vigorously defended."
