Around 1,600 water customers in Westmoreland County are under a precautionary boil water advisory today.
A loss of positive water pressure resulted from a water main break and contamination is possible.
The advisory is in effect in Ligonier Borough, Laurel Mountain Borough, and portions of Ligonier and Fairfield townships.
In a statement the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County said, “Due to a Water Main Break along the transmission line from the Greater Johnstown Water Authority, MAWC is asking customers in its Furnace Run service area (Ligonier and Laurel Mountain boroughs, and portions of Ligonier and Fairfield townships) to boil water as precaution and also conserve water.”
