According to a report, another Wegmans store could be in the works for the Pittsburgh area.

The Pittsburgh Business Times reports a development firm out of Washington, D.C. is purchasing the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon and wants to bring a Wegmans to the South Hills.

The mall on Washington Road has been up for sale over the past few years.

Sources tell The Business Times, the proposed owners, Roadside Development, are working with Wegmans to bring a new grocery store to the area.

Wegmans declined to comments to the Business Times, but said they continue to “evaluate properties in the Pittsburgh market that will complement our future Cranberry Township store.”

The galleria sits on a little under 15 acres of land.

Work is expected to begin on the Cranberry store this month, with a 115,000-square-foot store being build on a 13-acre site that is part of the new Cranberry Springs development.

Wegmans hopes to have the Cranberry store open by sometime in 2027.

If a second Wegmans is built at the Galleria, it will join nearby stores The Fresh Market, Trader Joe’s, Giant Eagle Market District and Whole Foods.
