Popular South Side Japanese Steakhouse apparently closed for good

A longtime favorite restaurant on the South Side has apparently closed its doors for good.

Nakama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar reportedly shut down operations on Memorial Day.

Rich Cupka, owner of Cupka’s 2 Café, tells KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin he spoke to a waitress that worked there.

“She showed up for work and the doors were locked, she called the manager and she said their closed…for good,” said Cupka.

The phone number listed for Nakama doesn’t connect anymore, but online reservations are still able to be made online.

Nakama had been open for a little over 20 years on the 1600 block of East Carson Street.

Last July, Nakama’s Wexford location closed for good.
