Three people were injured last night in a shooting near a football stadium on the South Side.

The Westinghouse/University Prep game was over when shots were fired outside Cupples Stadium.

Chief Jason Lando tells KDKA Radio the shooting happened just before 10 p.m.

Police responded quickly and were already near the area handling traffic and breaking up “a couple fights.”

“It was very chaotic, the individual fled, officers were trying to figure out a suspect description and direction of flight,” said Chief Lando.

Lando adds that officers from all police zones along with police drones and Port Authority Police began a search for the suspect, that has yet to be located.

Two males and one girl were wounded, taken to hospitals in stable condition.

Lando says an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were shot along with a 16-year-old girl.

A gun was recovered at the scene and is being examined to find out if it was the gun used in the shooting.

A statement about the shootings from Pittsburgh Public Schools says the district is deeply concerned by the violence.

"The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority,” the district said, in part, in a statement. “We are grateful to the Pittsburgh Police officers and other public safety personnel who were present and responded immediately. The District will continue to work closely with our public safety partners and will make appropriate supports available to students and staff affected by the incident."
