Spirit Airlines is restarting service from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport to Myrtle Beach this spring.

The airport's executive director, Gabe Monzo, made the announcement on the Big K Morning Show.

“There were a lot of questions about Spirit because of their trials and tribulations and things they were going through and we’re extremely happy that they’re sticking to their guns and their coming back,” said Monzo.

Monzo says it’s always been a seasonal operation, and daily flights will resume on May 7.

It also means a big economic boost for the airport.

“You’re talking 175, 170 people a day and that brings the numbers back to where they show be,” said Monzo. “About 150,000 people flying, 200,000 a year and we’ll be back to where we should be.”
