Starbucks union workers demanding $20-an-hour threatening strike

Starbucks Red Cup Day this year is November 13.

But customers who want their annual holiday cup this year should know, they could be greeted by picketers.

Starbucks Workers United says its members will strike the coffee chain on November 13 if the company doesn't return to the bargaining table.

Alex Barnett of the East Side store says the ball is in the company's court.

“What happens now is we wait to see if the company wants to just come back to the bargaining table or if we’re going to be looking at a long-haul strike,” said Barnett.

So, what are they looking for?

$20-an-hour as a base, starting pay with 5 percent raises annually and increased investment in labor budgets at stores to accommodate full-time workers, are the major demands.

But at this point, Barnett says they just want the company to come back to the table and talk.
