A candidate running for a state House seat in the 51st District says he intends to stay in the race, despite being assaulted at his Fayette County home.
Richard Ringer, a Democrat, says he called police to his house Monday morning after a man repeatedly attacked him.
"He just kept hitting me in the head and the face and eventually, I lost conscience and by the time I got back up, conscience again, no one around, have no idea who he was, where he disappeared to so I just went inside and called 9-1-1." Said Ringer on The Big K Morning Show.
Ringer believes the attack was political.
Several weeks before, someone spray painted a message on his garage door.
"It's said your race, meaning my campaign, is dead, watch out, you may be next," said Ringer.
State police are investigating the allegations.
