State Senator Jake Corman calls for 50% cut on gas tax

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Over eight-thousand people are supporting a petition to end a controversial PennDOT plan to add tolls to nine highways including the I-79 bridge near Bridgeville.

Petition organizer Peter Linko says rising fuel costs have likely added to people’s opposition to the plan.

State Senator Jake Corman has a solution to alleviate these increasing prices: Cut the gas tax by 50%.

"I'd like to get it done as early as April 1st," Corman said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Thursday. "So we can have it for nine months until the end of the calendar year, and we can assess where we are with gas prices."
