'Steel Curtain' coaster will be open for 2025 season at Kennywood

Some good news for fans of Kennywood.

The Steel Curtain roller coaster will reopen for the 2025 season.

The park made the announcement Friday morning.

If you’re visiting Kennywood this weekend during its Phantom Fall Fest, you’ll see crews working on the Steelers-themed coaster.

The work “includes adding additional columns to the structure,” Kennywood said in a release. “These enhancements and others will increase the coaster’s reliability and longevity, maintaining it for generations of riders to come.”

The “Steel Curtain” had been closed several times since opening in 2019 for adjustments and repairs.

It is currently under an “extensive modification project” that kept it closed through the 2024 season.

The coaster, made by S&S Worldwide, features one of the world's tallest inversions at 197 feet, carries 24 passengers at a time, is 220 feet high and reaches a top speed of 75 mph.
