There is the potential for severe weather Tuesday afternoon.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Frazier tells The Big K Morning Show that as a cold front approaches the area, a line of showers and thunderstorms will develop and move across the region.
Frazier says damaging winds, with gusts up to 60 miles-per-hour are possible along with “large hail and maybe even a tornado.”
The possibility for severe weather ramps up after 4 p.m.
With damaging wind gusts comes downed trees and power lines that can cause outages.
Frazier says to monitor the latest watching and warning that could be issued this afternoon to stay up to date.
With that severe weather possible, Duquesne Light says it’s increasing its staff on Tuesday to deal with any outages.
There are also things you can do as a customer, like reporting outages and downed lines and sign up for outage notifications in your neighborhood.
Customers are also encouraged to have all important electronic devices fully charged, avoid opening and closing the refrigerator to help keep inside safe and prepare an emergency kit just in case with things like non-perishable food, water and medication.
