A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order allowing a local college student to stay in the country after his immigration status had been terminated.
The Wednesday night ruling grants the request by Khalid Alduaij, allowing him to stay here until courts decide if he should be returned to Saudi Arabia.
Chief District Judge Mark Hornak's order says Alduaij entered the county to attend the University of Pittsburgh and transferred to La Roche University in 2023.
But last October, he was arrested on a DUI.
He was notified by the US Embassy that his visa had been revoked and he would need to reapply for a visa.
The school notified him on the 11th that his immigration status had been terminated prompting Alduaij to sue Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
La Roche Spokesperson Brady Butler tells KDKA Radio “the university is not part of the lawsuit and has no comment regarding it.”
A preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled for April 30 at 10 am.
