Pittsburgh is at the top of a new list of the best places for first-time homebuyers.
Bankrate studied 11 metrics in the 50 largest metro areas. Pittsburgh scored near the top in affordability, tightness of the housing market and safety.
"[Pittsburgh] is an affordable area with a strong job market, in contrast with some other places like Memphis where homes are affordable, but the economy is not particularly robust," said Bankrate Analyst Jeff Ostrowski.
The median home price in the Pittsburgh area in the first quarter of 2022 was $169,000, according to ATTOM Data Solutions. Last month, ATTOM reported listing prices are almost 14% lower than last year.
