A local sandwich shop has been ruled “out of compliance” after an inspection on Monday.
The PA Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety department says the Subway sandwich store at Greater Butler Mart in Butler was hit with two violations.
One of those violations involved evidence of a possible rodent issue.
Inspectors found a dozen rodent droppings in the front soda fountain area and the front prep line, in the cabinet areas.
The inspection shows a pest control company is scheduled to visit on July 1.
Another issue reported includes the top part of an ice machine seen with “black and whitish slime residuals”.
The restaurant is ordered to not use the machine until the entire unit is cleaned and sanitized.
The food bureau says the store has until July 9 to correct that issue.
