The mother of a fallen Pittsburgh Police officer has died.
Sue Sciullo passed away earlier this week. She is the mother of Officer Paul Sciullo, who was fatally shot in Stanton Heights in 2009, along with Officers Eric Kelly and Stephen Mayhle.
Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus released a statement following Sue Sciullo’s passing.
“From that day forward, Sue showed a strength and resilience that is to be admired, spending each day working to ensure that her son, along with Eric and Stephen, would never be forgotten, and making certain their Bloomfield neighborhood became a community memorial to her son through the Paul Sciullo Memorial Park and Dek Hockey Rink.”
Sue talked to KDKA Radio on the 10th anniversary of her son’s passing in 2019.
"Out of this evil there has been so much good shown to us that nobody hears about, everybody's wonderful,” said Sciullo. "It is very painful and very hard but you have to go on."
Max Sciullo, Paul’s father and Sue’s husband, called into Marty Griffin’s show Thursday, thanking him for the outpouring of love.
Max echoed a statement his wife made to us back in 2019, saying when they lost Paul, they gained a family in the entire Pittsburgh Police Department.
