A man was found dead after a massive search in Cranberry Township that prompted a shelter-in-place order on Tuesday afternoon.
Cranberry Highlands Golf Course employees called police to report a nearby car with weapons inside and a man who wasn't coherent.
Officers found the vehicle unoccupied with weapons inside along with notes indicating the man wanted to do harm to himself or others.
Later, gunfire was heard and last night authorities said officers and the man, who was in his 30s, exchanged gunfire before he was found dead in a wooded area.
State Police are investigating how the man died.
Officials said the man wasn't from Cranberry and was staying south of the area in a motel, where police found another note.
They're looking into threats the man may have made to a hospital.
