A troubling video from Swissvale is going viral, showing a public works employee hurling racial slurs at a motorist.
The video circulating online shows a Swissvale Public Works employee approaching driver Ross King Jr. around 5 a.m. Wednesday, yelling racial slurs and threatening to fight him.
In a Facebook post, state Representative Abigail Salisbury says the behavior is unacceptable and is calling for the worker’s termination.
Swissvale Borough provided the following statement to KDKA Radio:
Many members of the public are aware of an incident that occurred this morning between a Swissvale Borough employee and another motorist. During this encounter, the Swissvale employee used threatening and racist language and a homophobic slur against the other person involved. The Borough cannot provide specifics concerning disciplinary action of an employee, but this type of behavior does not reflect the values of this Council and Staff and will not be tolerated. Swissvale took immediate action upon becoming aware of this incident and will continue to work toward building a better Swissvale and ensuring that this type of behavior does not occur in the future.
A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
