Partial collapse of Tarentum Opera House closes nearby roads

Pittsburgh's Headlines: August 6, 2026

A partial collapse of the Tarentum Opera House last night is the reason why several nearby roads are closed.

There's a hole in a brick wall on the third floor of the building in the 400 block of Corbet Street.

TribLive reports two windows on the first floor were blown out by the partial collapse.

Parts of East Fourth and Fifth avenues and Corbet Street are closed.

A fire-rescue source said a complete collapse is unlikely due to the building's steel skeleton.

The opera house was built in 1883.
