A world-renown animal expert has a warning for those who may be tempted to pick up a wildlife baby they may find in the woods.
This time of year, it's quite common to see animals start having their springtime babies.
But, Dr. Mike Hutchinson of Animal General in Cranberry Township says don’t go around picking up newborn animals.
“Remember they’re lovely to look at but, please don’t start hold them because that’s not good advice,” said Hutchinson. “Each rabbit contains about 100 deer ticks so that’s quite a lot, people don’t think of that. Even a field mouse has about nine deer ticks on it.”
Hutchinson tells The Big K Morning Show according to estimates, deer have about 500 ticks on them at any given time.
