President Joe Biden spoke to the nation Thursday, saying: "Something I hope we can do, no matter who you voted for, is see each other not as adversaries but as fellow Americans. Bring down the temperature."
On election night. President-elect Donald J. Trump told supporters “we are going to help our country heal. It's time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us.”
These are the kind of messages we expect to hear from leaders after an election. Calls for acceptance, tolerance and cooperation from both sides are appropriate and sadly needed considering the nasty campaign we witnessed.
We urge everyone to take the advice of the outgoing and incoming presidents. Let’s take the high road and move on together.
