Westmoreland airport director dispels rumor regarding overnight immigrant flights.
Gabe Monzo, Westmoreland County Airport Authority executive director tells the Big K Morning Show thousands of illegal immigrants are not being flown into Arnold Palmer Airport.
“You can’t tie your shoe without someone either seeing it or knowing it . . . we got a lot of cameras out here as part of our security system and if something like that was going on we would certainly know about it,” said Monzo.
Monzo adds it would take about five Airbuses to fly in that many people in the middle of the night and those planes make a lot of noise.
“I would get a phone call or two” from the community,” Monzo said.
While saying it is kind of “comical” it is serious and not happening.
Monzo tells KDKA Radio he doesn’t know where the rumors came from but has been getting calls from members of the community, those involved in politics and police and has to dispel the rumors in each call.
The topic of illegal immigration is a hot topic in this year’s presidential election, with many rumors and lies circulating on extreme right-wing social media pages and websites.
