Thursday's rain in Pittsburgh is the most in 50 days

The Pittsburgh area is getting some much-needed rain on Thursday after a long stretch of dry weather.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says they’ve recorded 0.64” of rain so far, as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

That’s the most rain that has fallen in for us in 50 days, going back to July 16.

The rain has been so rare that large parts of Southwestern PA are considered “abnormally dry” or under a “moderate drought” per the U.S. Drought Monitor.

AccuWeather says there is the chance of rain on Friday night into early Saturday morning before another extended dry stretch into next week and beyond.
