Tropical Storm Isaias could impact Pittsburgh area this weekend

Pittsburgh's Headlines: October 7, 2026

Tropical Storm Isaias could bring rain and strong winds to our region this weekend.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Kerry Schwindenhammer tells KDKA Radio the forecast is still changing, including how strong the winds could get locally.

“We do use the term ‘some risk’ to lives and property because of the fact that yes, there will be some rain from it, it will be probably be breezy during the day, I don’t think the winds are going to be terribly strong,” said Schwindenhammer.

Forecasters are also watching for heavier rain, especially north of Pittsburgh

“We’re expecting amounts to be in the one to two-inch range, across a large portion of Pennsylvania, including the Pittsburgh area,” said Schwindenhammer.

Schwindenhammer says he’s not concerned about widespread power outages becoming an issue.

He says rain is expected to start falling Sunday morning and will continue through the evening and could last into Monday.

Schwindenhammer says the storm is still evolving and there is an outside chance of the rain arriving earlier on Saturday night, if the storm moves faster.

With nearly 1,000 Duquesne Light customers currently on strike, Schwindenhammer doesn’t expect a large number of power outages.
