A total of two dozen people have been indicted on drug trafficking charges.
That announcement was made by the U-S Attorney's office in Pittsburgh Friday morning.
The alleged criminal activity took place between July of last year through this month.
The 24 suspects named in the 9-count indictment are from Pittsburgh, Clairton, McKees Rocks and South Park Township.
Michael Nordwall, special agent in charge of the FBI's Pittsburgh office, said today that the defendants are said to be part of a violent drug operation headquartered out of the Hill District, specifically along Watson Street.
“Those arrested this week are members and associates of the neighborhood base gang responsible for extremely violent acts to include shootings, robberies and illegal drug gun trafficking,” said Nordwall. “In addition, they brought large amounts of cocaine, crack and fentanyl with the sole purpose of polluting our streets.”
Most of the defendants are in custody, however two suspects remain on the run.
FBI Pittsburgh tells KDKA Radio those men are Mark Cook and Marvin Coates.
If anyone has any information they are asked to call the FBI at 412-432-4000.
