U.S. Steel investing $100 million into Edgar Thompson Works

U.S. Steel says it is investing $100 million dollars at the Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock.

The steelmaker says it has applied for an “air construction permit” to start building a new slag recycler.

Slag left over from steel production can be used for other products like cement. In a release.

U.S. Steel says a new slag recycler will “reduce air emissions and waste" and generate "additional revenue.”

The company plans to start construction next year.
