Get Marty + Bazzy: Previous homeowner's unpaid taxes could cost a disabled dad his family home

The house was a gift from a neighbor but that home came with a hidden cost that could make them lose it all

We're gearing up to help a young man who was given the blessing of a free home for his family. That gift came with a surprise that could ultimately cost them their home... nearly $40,000 in hidden, delinquent property taxes! This is why he's reaching out to Get Marty for help.

Watch the video on this page to see Arianna Bazzy's meeting with Ryan Venters to find out what's going on and how we're getting involved.

Ryan Venters is a young man with a lot on his plate. He's not only the father of two young girls, at age 33, he's also disabled and beginning the battle with Parkinson's Disease. Ryan has been cutting the grass and keep up the outside of the house next door to his grandmother's home in Homestead, PA for nearly a decade.

The property itself was seemingly abandoned and had been that way for many years.  One day last year, the owner appeared and offered the home to Ryan and his family for absolutely nothing.

It's a gift Ryan gladly accepted and took as a blessing, then the deed was signed over. A few months later, that gift became a nightmare when delinquent tax bills started to arrive in the mail. The grand total of unpaid taxes spanning about ten years stacks up to around $40,000. That is nearly double what the entire property is worth and well beyond what Ryan and his family can afford, especially on a fixed income.

Ryan is now on the clock facing the threat of a Sheriff's sale if the back taxes are not paid. He could legitimately lose his house if something isn't done to help out.

The fix for this one is not easy, but we are working with a lawyer who wants to stay anonymous for the time being. He's working to possibly get the tax debt wiped out, but we are quite a ways from that happening.
