UPDATE: Seven students and a driver were injured in Thursday morning's school bus accident in Adams Township, Butler County. Police say about 20 elementary students were on board at the time of the crash.
Mars School District has provided an update on a school bus crash that sent the driver and at least two students to the hospital.
Elementary Bus #21 was involved in the accident around 8:30 a.m.
“All students, who were on the bus at the time of the accident, were evaluated by emergency medical personnel and their parents/guardians have been contacted directly,” Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross said in a statement.
Injured students were taken to the hospital and students deemed “not injured” were placed on another bus and taken to school.
Those students were checked by a school nurse before reporting to class.
Social workers will be available to students throughout Thursday and Monday. Friday is an in-service day for teachers and students don’t have class.
“The District would like to thank our first responders and school personnel for their quick and diligent response to this accident. In addition, we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we make every effort to safely transport your child(ren) to and from school,” said Dr. Gross.
