One of the two people stabbed overnight in Edgewood has died and has been identified as a doctor at UPMC.
Allegheny County Police say the stabbings happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Linden Avenue when a man broke into the home of pediatric critical care physician Dr. Idris Evans began stabbing someone.
A woman and her children left the house, Dr. Evans stayed behind and was fatally injured.
At last report, the woman was in critical condition.
UPMC says Dr. Evans was on the staff at Children's Hospital and also an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.
A statement says UPMC is deeply sadden by his tragic loss.

A suspect was taken into custody.
