UPMC is increasing wages for non-union nurses by $23 million.
It's all part of the health system's compensation package for more than 20,000 of its employees.
The health system will graduate 380 nurses this week.
Pay for UPMC nurses who are represented by unions would have to be negotiated.“By welcoming these talented new nurses to our UPMC team, we are growing the workforce needed to care for our patients and we’re strengthening the long-term future of health care delivery across every region we serve,” said Maribeth McLaughlin, chief nurse executive and vice president of Patient Care Services at UPMC.
